Citizen Host Night

IIE West Coast is delighted to invite its members and friends to meet an outstanding group of professional women from Africa here as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program. Identified as future leaders of their countries, these impressive women are Judges, Lawyers,
NGO Directors, and Court Administrators. They are deeply involved in ensuring that women’s
legal rights are respected and that crimes against women are prosecuted and stopped. The purpose of their visit is to learn about U.S. policies that regulate gender discrimination in the
job market, trafficking in persons and domestic violence. During the course of their visit they
have examined women’s participation in the American legal and judicial system and women’s access to political, economic and social structures. Finally, they have been introduced to the
role of various American governmental and non-governmental organizations working to
improve women’s status in areas such as health, education and economic independence.
