IIE West Coast organizes enrichment activities for Bay Area Fulbright
grantees and cooperates with the International Visitors Council
of Los Angeles (IVCLA) and university International Student and
Scholar offices in making enrichment activities available to all
West Coast Fulbright grantees.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, IIE schedules frequent social and
cultural events as part of its Bay &
Beyond Enrichment Program, providing Fulbright grantees with
opportunities to take a break from studies for a group activity.
The gatherings are popular with grantees as it gives them a chance
to explore a special part of the Bay Area or enjoy a cultural event
in the company of fellow Fulbrighters. Most activities are offered
at little or no cost to Fulbrighters and family members.
Special all-Fulbright activities--including IIE’s international
graduate Fulbrighters, returned U.S. Fulbrighters, international
faculty-level Fulbright researchers, and Fulbright Humphrey Program
grantees—are also offered several times a year.
Through IIE West Coast’s Home
Hospitality Program, Fulbright grantees are matched with local
host families for the uniquely American Thanksgiving holiday.
Fulbright grantees in southern California are invited to participate
in social and cultural activities organized by the IVCLA, the U.S.
Fulbright Association’s Greater Los Angeles Chapter, and the
Foreign Fulbright Scholars Program in Southern California.
Additionally, Fulbright grantees can take advantage of the many
cultural and social activities organized by U.S. university International
Student and Scholars offices to explore the U.S. outside of academia
while studying here in the U.S.
Through the generous support of West Coast Foundations,
IIE West Coast provides supplementary grants to Fulbright students
studying in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as opportunities
for Bay Area undergraduates and graduates study abroad over the
summer.
